A terrible car accident claimed the lives of five people connected to one family, including two young twin brothers. The incident happened while they were enjoying a holiday in Portugal.

The victims were identified as Domingos Serrano, aged 55, his wife Maria Serrano, aged 51, and their twin sons Domingos and Afonso, both 20 years old. A young woman who was also part of their travel group did not survive the crash either.
The fatal collision took place on August 9th. According to reports, the family, who were originally from Thetford in England, were driving along the IP2 main road in the Algarve area. Their vehicle collided with another car, and the driver of the other vehicle also tragically died.
A statement from the UK Foreign Office indicated that although the family resided in the United Kingdom, they were not thought to be British citizens. The Municipality of Mourão, where the accident occurred, declared a two-day period of mourning. Local authorities, including the Guarda Nacional Republicana, confirmed the identities of the deceased using the license plate of the vehicle involved.
A football club from Thetford, where the Serrano twins had previously played on their youth team, issued a heartfelt message expressing their condolences. They mentioned that Afonso and Domingos were valued members of their U18 team.
