Law enforcement officials from the Vermont State Police were dispatched at about 1:02 p.m. Saturday to a motor vehicle collision on Route 12, where they discovered two vehicles that were completely destroyedâ€â€Âa Toyota RAV4 and a GMC Sierra pickup truck.
The driver of the RAV4, identified as Jamison O’Neil from Hartland, was pronounced deceased at the accident site. He was 35 years old.
The occupants of the pickup truck, a 77-year-old man named Joseph Petrone and his 76-year-old wife Angela Petrone, were transported to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center with severe injuries. According to the police, both the Petrones, who are residents of Cos Cob, Connecticut, are currently in stable health.
Preliminary findings from the ongoing investigation indicate that O’Neil was traveling southbound on Route 12, while Joseph Petrone was going northbound, leading to a direct head-on collision near Cobb Hill Road. The reasons for the accident are not yet known.
