Fatal New Orleans shooting death of De’Von Franklin
Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office has officially identified two victims killed during a shooting incident in the New Orleans 7th Ward on Tuesday evening. The deceased individuals are De’Von Franklin, who was 17 years old, and Brent McDonald, who was 37 years old. Both victims suffered fatal injuries as a result of the gunfire that occurred in the 2100 block of Allen Street. A third individual sustained injuries from the incident and received medical treatment at a hospital, where their condition was reported as stable.
According to local law enforcement, police dispatch was activated at 9:15 p.m. following the initial reports of the shooting. Upon arriving at the Allen Street location, officers found Brent McDonald already deceased at the scene. Emergency medical services were immediately summoned to provide care for McDonald before transporting him to a hospital.
Shortly after the initial police response, two additional individuals, including De’Von Franklin, were transported to the hospital as a result of gunshot wounds. Tragically, Franklin did not survive his injuries and passed away several hours after arriving at the medical facility. The hospitalization status and specific circumstances surrounding McDonald’s death were later confirmed by authorities.
As of Thursday, no additional information regarding the ongoing investigation into this triple shooting incident has been released by the New Orleans police department. The incident continues to be treated as a serious criminal matter, with no immediate suspects identified.
