Fatal car crash death of Meghan DeaBrandt, 35
Following a collision on Highway 97, the identity of the deceased woman, reported in July near the 108 Mile Heritage Site, has been confirmed as Meghan DeaBrandt, aged 35. This tragic event transpired on Monday, July 28th, 2025.
Ms. DeaBrandt, accompanied by her fiancé, was en route back to the Lower Mainland when their vehicle collided with another car between Cariboo Drive and Spring Lake Road. Tragically, she was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
Rescue efforts were undertaken for her fiancé, the driver, but he too succumbed to his injuries.
Prior to moving to Mission, British Columbia, earlier that summer, Meghan DeaBrandt resided in Williams Lake. Her household included her 16-year-old son, her 10-year-old daughter, and her mother, Ginella DeaBrandt. The family relocated from Williams Lake to Mission, B.C.
Blanche Pilkington, a former neighbour in Williams Lake, and her daughter Mattea Pilkington have initiated fundraising efforts for cremation and funeral costs, as well as financial aid for Ginella DeaBrandt. Mattea Pilkington also established a GoFundMe page for this purpose.
Blanche Pilkington mentioned on Wednesday that she planned to travel the following day to deliver Meghan’s ashes and other documents to her mother, Ginella. It was noted that Ginella is currently unable to manage living independently in Mission. Consequently, Pilkington has been contacting various organizations to find an old van or truck for Ginella to utilize in relocating, moving back to Alberta where family support is available.
Pilkington further stated that Ginella is now responsible for Meghan’s family pets, adding that Ginella also has her own pets.
According to Sgt. Brian Lamb of the 100 Mile House RCMP, the investigation into the Highway 97 crash remains ongoing as of Wednesday, August 13th, 2025.
