Marc Glaser, aged 45, from Salem, has been identified by authorities as the individual who passed away after encountering electrical lines in the city on Thursday.

Law enforcement confirmed that Marc Glaser, a resident of Salem, was engaged in outdoor maintenance tasks around the midday hour of 1:21 p.m. when he and a colleague inadvertently touched overhead electrical cables, leading to an investigation into what is described as a “regrettable incident” by police.

Further details from the authorities indicate that Glaser was located within the elevated platform of a mechanical lifting device, close to a point where power lines converged along a main road designated as Route 28, before entering a commercial zone. This device is what is commonly referred to as a hydraulic lift.

Emergency services from Salem’s fire department provided on-site medical aid to the other individual involved, who suffered significant thermal injuries from electricity exposure. The injured worker was then moved to a hospital in the vicinity of Massachusetts General Hospital, with updates suggesting he is currently in a stable health status.

As a safety measure, local authorities evacuated the surrounding vicinity, including a nearby banking institution and fuel station. This action was taken while officials, including medical examiners and safety regulatory agencies, examined the scene.

Individuals possessing any relevant information pertaining to this unfortunate event are being urged to reach out to Detective Jake Genest of the Salem Police Department.
