Fatal Battle Creek car crash death of Daelnn Roark
Law enforcement officials have formally accused a driver with ties to the incident from earlier this month, which resulted in the tragic loss of life for the high school senior.
The 18-year-old individual, identified as Gavin Christopher Scott, was officially indicted on Thursday for charges including driving under the influence that led to death, reckless driving causing fatality, driving under the influence causing significant harm, and reckless driving that impaired a body part severely.
According to information released by the Battle Creek Police department, Scott is said to have been involved in a hazardous maneuvering incident at a parking area named Irving Park on July 14. During this event, he apparently lost command of the vehicle, leading to the ejection of all individuals inside.
The same crash also inflicted serious injuries on a female companion who was present in the vehicle at the time of the incident.
Gavin Christopher Scott is currently set to appear in court on August 26 for a proceeding to determine probable cause, and this will be followed by a preliminary examination scheduled for September 2.
