Joy Roy dies in fatal Lalmonirhat drowning

Fatal Lalmonirhat drowning death of Joy Roy

A young student lost their life after drowning in a river located in Patgram upazila, within the Lalmonirhat district, on Friday.

The individual who passed away was identified as Joy Roy, aged twelve years, who was the son of Anil Roy residing in Nabinagar village, specifically under the jurisdiction of Baura union within the same upazila. Joy Roy was currently enrolled as a fifth-grade student at the Baura Government Primary School.

Local residents reported that Joy had ventured to the Sajiajan River accompanied by his companions, presumably to bathe, and he suddenly submerged beneath the surface. Following this incident, the community members quickly mobilized and retrieved his body from the river.

The Baura Union Parishad administrator, along with the Patgram Upazila Additional Agricultural Officer, named Harun Mia, officially confirmed the tragic death.
