Oregon State Police reported the death of Springfield’s Jan Dwight McSilvers following a motorcycle accident at the intersection of Highway 126 and US-20 on August 13. According to investigators, Mr. McSilvers lost control of his motorcycle and swerved off the road shortly before 10:40 a.m. The vehicle subsequently overturned, and emergency medical personnel pronounced the man deceased at the scene.

OSP indicated traffic on the roadway was halted for roughly one hour while they conducted their preliminary inquiry into the accident. The official reason for the crash continues to be examined.
