Fatal Chula Vista car crash death of Juanito Muyco and Michael Baril.

The medical examiner has officially identified the two individuals who perished in the traffic mishap that unfolded on Monday night in Chula Vista. The incident involved a collision where two elderly men were killed, and the accident took place while their vehicle was attempting to enter a local street. Both victims, residents of Chula Vista, were en route to a religious service when the crash occurred.

According to local law enforcement reports, the fatal accident happened at the junction of Apache Drive and Telegraph Canyon Road around the evening hour of 8 p.m. The involved car, described as a white Subaru Forester, was traveling eastbound on Telegraph Canyon Road and made a left turn onto Apache Drive. During this maneuver, it was struck from the side by a red Ford Mustang moving westbound on Telegraph. This impact caused the Subaru to turn over, trapping all occupants inside the vehicle initially.

Emergency responders had to use specialized equipment to gain access to the trapped individuals. The driver of the Subaru, Michael Baril, who was 75 years old, died at the scene before any medical treatment could be administered. His 76-year-old passenger, Juanito Muyco, was rushed to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries later during treatment. Two other women, both in their late sixties and seated in the backseat, were also transported to the same medical facility with severe but non-life-threatening wounds.

The operator of the Mustang, a 41-year-old man, was left at the location to assist with the ongoing investigation and was treated for minor injuries at a nearby hospital. The police department stated that no further details were available at press time, and the incident is currently under review for potential charges. Both victims were part of the same group, having been on their way home from a church gathering, highlighting the tragic nature of the event.
