Fatal Northeast D.C. car crash death of Deon Cherry

Police in Washington, D.C., are investigating the death of Deon Cherry, who was killed in a suspected hit-and-run incident last week. According to reports, Cherry was found unconscious and not breathing shortly before 5:30 a.m. on August 14th in the rear alley of the 1600 block of Benning Road NE. Emergency responders attempted to save him at the scene, but he was pronounced dead there.

Further investigation by the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) indicates Cherry was hit by two vehicles during the early morning hours. The drivers involved fled the scene. Cherry, identified as a 34-year-old man, was later confirmed as the deceased.
