Fatal McCurtain County car crash death of Shannon Deihl and John Cockrill

Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers reported Monday morning that a single-vehicle accident in McCurtain County resulted in two fatalities. Initial reports indicated the driver was exceeding safe speeds on Holly Creek Road, leading to a loss of vehicle control.

The vehicle subsequently departed the roadway on the right side, making contact with a concrete barrier that caused it to become airborne. Following this initial impact, the car lost control again, sliding across the ground before colliding with a substantial tree.

The driver of the vehicle sustained injuries, though they survived the collision. Both Shannon Deihl, who was 26 and from Broken Bow, and John Cockrill, who was 35 and from Idabel, tragically lost their lives as a result of the devastating crash.
