Fatal ATV crash in Cherry, Minnesota death of Tia Muller

Tia Muller, a 26-year-old Cherry Fire Department volunteer firefighter, died this past weekend after an ATV crash on the Iron Range Off-Highway Vehicle State Recreation Area, reports indicate the fatal incident occurred Saturday evening, though police responded Saturday morning.

The Cherry Fire Department expressed profound grief via social media, writing, “At this time we don’t have words to say other than thank you and rest in peace. Tia (Tinker Bell) you will truly be missed. Our hearts as a department are hurting.” The post received significant community support.

Responding to reports of an ATV collision, the Gilbert Police Department stated the crash likely happened the night before they received the call. John Muller, Tia Muller’s husband, was driving the vehicle at the time and suffered serious injuries, requiring airlift evacuation to Essentia Health in Duluth. He is also a volunteer firefighter with the Cherry Fire Department.

Friends and colleagues remember Tia Muller as a cheerful and compassionate individual. Her personal life included a marriage to John Muller, who shared a similar profession.
