The tragic Moorhead shooting deaths of Nancy Acosta and Camilo Acosta occurred early Saturday morning. According to the Moorhead Police Department, responding officers discovered the bodies of the Acosta couple inside their apartment building. Law enforcement located a weapon at the scene.

A youth and an adult male were present at the apartment during the incident but sustained no injuries. The incident unfolded in the 1100 block of 2nd Avenue S.

This development follows another fatal use-of-force incident in Moorhead involving Fargo-area officers. Two individuals were killed in an apartment in the 2400 block of 3rd Avenue N on Monday following a domestic disturbance call.

Nathan Heiberg, 42, and Lucas Heiberg, 41, were identified by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office. Fargo police Sgt. Michael Anderson, Sgt. Kyle Seehusen, and Officer Tyler Seehusen were involved in that incident and placed on leave.

The Moorhead case investigation began Monday evening after officers received a report about a protection order violation at an apartment. Personnel attempted to enter the residence but heard gunfire before entering. Two small children inside were unharmed. Multiple firearms were recovered by authorities. A previous article contained an error regarding the identities of the individuals involved in the initial incident.
