Karl Chen dies in fatal Barnegat Bay accident

Fatal Barnegat Bay accident death of Karl Chen

Law enforcement sources confirmed a man lost his life on August 24th when two individuals were thrown from a vessel in Barnegat Bay. State Police Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron detailed the incident, which occurred around 10 a.m. near Intercoastal Waterway marker 116, close to the Little Egg Harbor area.

According to preliminary findings, the 27-foot Robalo boat encountered a large wave, causing both people on board to be forcefully ejected. Sgt. Lebron explained via email that the boat subsequently veered and collided with one of the ejected persons, leading to Chen’s death. The other occupant of the Robalo was reported to have sustained minor injuries and was saved by a nearby craft, as per information from the Asbury Park Press.

State Police are currently examining the incident.
