Fatal Bremer County car crash death of Lungawia Chalthleng

The Iowa State Patrol reported a serious vehicle collision in Bremer County that resulted in one fatality and five injuries. The incident happened near the intersection of 190th Street and Piedmont Avenue around 1:30 p.m. Saturday, close to the Tripoli neighborhood.

Investigators with the Bremer County Sheriff’s Office stated that a Toyota Tacoma, heading east on 190th Street, failed to stop at a stop sign before entering the intersection. It was then struck on the driver’s side by an approaching Ford F-150 traveling southbound on Piedmont Avenue.

Lungawia Chalthleng, who was 41 years old and lived in Urbandale, was a passenger in the Toyota vehicle. She was pronounced deceased at the accident scene.

Five other individuals involved in the collision sustained injuries. Emergency services utilized Air Care helicopter support and ambulances to transport the wounded to nearby medical facilities. The official condition reports for the injured parties have not been released.
