The incident occurred at the intersection found at Hwy. 212 and Tagus Avenue, located approximately 13 miles south of Hutchinson. The fatal accident happened shortly before 8:00 a.m. on Sunday morning. State Patrol officials arrived at the scene.

The semi-truck was occupied by three people besides the driver. The car involved contained only one person. According to the official state crash report, the automobile was traveling westbound on Hwy. 212 while the semi-truck was moving eastbound on the two-lane road. The impact proved fatal for the driver of the car.

Halvorson Wade Kenneth, who resided in Waconia, was identified as the driver of the car. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The State Patrol is investigating the specific details surrounding Kenneth’s death, though it is not yet confirmed if seatbelt use or alcohol impairment were factors.

The driver of the semi-truck has been identified as Jerod Alan Jakel, who was 39 years old and a resident of Sacred Heart. His two passengers, Nicole Renae Jakel (37) and 7-year-old McCoy Alan Jakel, were also from Sacred Heart. A third passenger, 5-year-old McKinlee Renae Jakel, was transported to a hospital but suffered minor injuries, as per the State Patrol report. Everyone inside the semi-truck was wearing their seatbelts.
