Fatal Vineland car crash death of Efrain DeLatorre-Valdesp
Vineland emergency responders were called to the intersection of East Landis Avenue and Main Road on Sunday morning, August 24th, following reports of a serious traffic collision. Law enforcement details indicate officers arrived at the scene shortly before 6:50 a.m.
Preliminary examination of the situation showed two motor vehicles had collided head-on. The driver of a red 2016 Toyota sport utility vehicle, identified as Chao J. Lu, was cited for crossing into the opposite lane of traffic while traveling westbound. This driver’s actions resulted in contact with a beige 2017 Honda vehicle moving eastbound.
The operator of the Honda CRV, Efrain DeLatorre-Valdesp, who was 72 years old and a Vineland resident, did not survive the impact. Medical personnel at the accident site confirmed his death.
Chao J. Lu, the driver of the Toyota, suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local healthcare facility for treatment. A passenger in his vehicle, Sanman Yung, also experienced non-critical injuries and received medical attention. Police investigations are ongoing to determine the complete circumstances surrounding this collision.
