Mark Wallum, 76, of Vancouver, died Sunday when the vehicle he was riding in turned left onto Crestloch Road and was struck by oncoming northbound traffic. Three other people were injured in the collision.

The fatal car crash marks the third deadly accident at the US 395 and Crestloch Road intersection in less than two years. According to Washington State Patrol Trooper Daniel Mosqueda, those three crashes alone have claimed five lives.

Investigators determined that all occupants were wearing seatbelts and that neither drugs nor alcohol were factors in Sunday’s fatal collision. State patrol officials have designated the intersection as the deadliest along that stretch of highway.
