Clark County’s coroner revealed on Monday that Jayvon Roland, a 20-year-old from Summerville, South Carolina, was the individual authorities reported being fatally hit near the Tropicana Avenue and Koval Lane intersection on Thursday. The official cause and manner of death were still under investigation.
Metro police responded at 9:08 p.m. following reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and a motor vehicle. Upon arrival, officers gathered evidence suggesting the pedestrian was crossing Tropicana Avenue east of Koval Lane without using a designated crosswalk.
A 2014 Lexus IS 350 was moving eastbound on Tropicana when its left front side made contact with Jayvon Roland. Emergency medical services took him to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, but he succumbed to his injuries.
The Lexus driver stayed at the scene and showed no signs of intoxication or impairment. This incident represents the 106th traffic fatality in the Metropolitan Police Department’s jurisdiction during 2025.
