Fatal Hempstead car crash death of Jose Vasquez Ruiz
The Nassau County law enforcement agency announced on Monday that a person walking who was hit and killed early Saturday in Hempstead is identified as Jose Vasquez Ruiz.
According to a bulletin issued by authorities on Saturday, the 42-year-old local resident from Hempstead was crossing the street in front of 545 Fulton Ave. when a 2009 Nissan Rogue, moving southbound, collided with him. The accident happened at 1:39 a.m.
Emergency medical services pronounced Ruiz dead at the hospital where he was taken.
