According to the county medical examiner’s office, the identity of a man killed in a suspected hit-and-run collision near his own car was confirmed on Monday. The incident happened while the individual was getting out of his vehicle.
The fatality took place around 8 p.m. on Friday on Victory Boulevard, close to the intersection with Belmar Avenue. This location is several blocks west of Tampa Avenue, as reported by the Los Angeles Police Department.

The victim, identified by the L.A. County medical examiner’s office as Jose Portillo Hernandez, aged 35, from North Hollywood, was in the process of exiting the driver’s side of his parked automobile. A black compact sport utility vehicle traveling west on Victory Boulevard then swerved into his path and collided with him. The driver of the SUV continued westbound on Victory Boulevard before making a turn onto Corbin Avenue, according to the police.
Paramedics arrived at the scene and pronounced Hernandez deceased shortly after their arrival.
