Residents at the University of West Alabama are expressing deep sorrow following news of the passing of one of their students. Authorities are currently examining the circumstances surrounding a severe vehicular accident that occurred recently in Baldwin County, resulting in two fatalities. This tragic event claimed the life of Elisha “EJ” Jones, a member of the university’s football team.

University Athletic Director Brett Gilliland mentioned receiving reports, however, he noted these were not yet confirmed. Following his death, team coaches reached out to connect with Elisha’s family members, including his grandmother, aunt, and former high school coach, to verify the information and extend support.

Elisha Jones was identified as a first-year player specializing as a defensive lineman. His high school background is from Baldwin County High School, where his performance statistics showed he averaged 11.8 tackles per game during his senior year. Upon arriving at the University of West Alabama in Livingston, he quickly gained recognition and respect among the campus community.

At a gathering held on Sunday with the team, the players were given an opportunity to share their emotions and pay tribute to the life that was lost.
