Chasie Aquino Carino (23), identified by the Kern County Coroner’s Office, passed away in a serious incident near Bakersfield.
This tragic passing is the result of a motor vehicle collision.
Police were dispatched to Panama Lane and Stine Road on August 24, 2025, shortly after midnight. Their arrival confirmed a two-car crash occurring in the western area of the intersection. They located Carino beside the damaged automobiles. Her situation was critical, and she was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The initial investigation by the Bakersfield Police Department indicated that a car traveling west collided with one heading south at the intersection. The driver of the southbound car suffered significant injuries and was transported to a medical facility. It is reported that Carino was a passenger in the vehicle and was ejected during the impact. The westbound driver incurred only slight injuries and was also taken to the hospital.
Further examination of the situation revealed that both speed and alcohol consumption were contributing factors in the accident.
Complicating matters, authorities noted that a vehicle managed to breach a barricade of traffic cones and police cars before entering the crash area. The driver, identified as a male, was held and tested positive for driving under the influence, resulting in an arrest at the Kern County Jail. Subsequently, a second vehicle also crossed the barricade and drove through the crash location on the opposite side of the road. The female driver of this car was apprehended and found to be intoxicated, leading to her own arrest and booking at the same facility.
The ongoing investigation continues to gather more information. Bakersfield Police are appealing to the public for any information related to the incident. They can be contacted at (661) 327-7111.
