St. Clair County officials have identified the deceased as 49-year-old Harold Schaedler, who was fatally struck by a vehicle during the weekend. The incident occurred on Illinois Route 157, located just south of Foley Drive in Cahokia Heights. Schaedler, who resided in Beleville, was pronounced deceased at the scene at 1:05 a.m. on Sunday, August 24, 2025, according to the St. Clair County Coroner’s Office.

Cahokia Heights Police were alerted to a man found in the road around 10:50 p.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2025. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Schaedler suffering from serious injuries.

The county medical examiner’s office confirmed that the fatal injuries resulted from blunt force trauma.
