John Burton dies in fatal car crash in Tansem Township, Clay County

An elderly man, 89 years old, lost his life in a direct collision on Tuesday morning. The accident took place at 8:25 a.m. on Highway 34 within Tansem Township, Clay County. A Dodge Caliber traveling east collided with a Subaru Outback going west.

The Minnesota State Patrol has not yet explained how the vehicles ended up in the crash. However, the Dodge Caliber driver, identified as John Burton from Barnesville, passed away at the scene.

The Subaru Outback driver, a 64-year-old woman from Hawley, was transported to Sanford Hospital with minor injuries that did not threaten her life.
