Fatal Franklin car crash death of Anthony Rogers

Louisiana State Police reported the accident took place on Louisiana Highway 329 (Avery Island Road) at the intersection with C Romero Road on Monday, August 25, around 6 a.m. This location was near New Iberia.

The individual who lost their life in the accident was identified as Anthony Rogers, who was 21 years old and lived in Franklin. He was the operator of a 2003 Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck.

Investigators stated that Rogers was driving his vehicle eastbound on C Romero Road. They noted that he did not stop properly at a stop sign before proceeding. Consequently, his truck entered the path of a southbound 1994 Freightliner semi-truck.

According to the findings, Rogers was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. This contributed to his fatality as he died at the scene. The operator of the large truck was not injured and police indicated there was no evidence of impairment.

Law enforcement agencies confirmed they collected a toxicology sample for testing from Mr. Rogers.
