Stephen Chapin dies in fatal Southington fire
Fatal Southington fire death of Stephen Chapin
Fire response teams from Southington confirmed the identity of the deceased man on Wednesday. He was identified as a 74-year-old individual named Stephen Chapin, who lost his life following a residential blaze that started early Monday morning. Chapin was located inside his home by emergency personnel.
According to fire officials, the origin of the fire remains under examination and has not been determined as of Wednesday. They have dismissed any possibility of arson involvement. Responders arrived at the scene after receiving a report of the fire at about 2:28 a.m. on Monday.
Assistant Fire Chief Scott Lee, present at the location, stated that upon their arrival, the crews observed flames emanating from a window on the left side of the building. A dog that was discovered inside the dwelling was transported to the Southington Animal Control Center. The animal’s condition is currently unknown.
