COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – Law enforcement agencies confirmed that Anthony Reese is now formally accused in the death of Angela Fuller, a woman from the Midlands region.
According to the Columbia Police Department, Reese, who is 55 years old, faces murder charges along with unauthorized removal of a deceased person’s body, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and possession of a stolen handgun. These accusations are directly tied to the death of 56-year-old Angela Fuller.
“The Fuller family has actively shared their situation on social media and has drawn strength from widespread community support,” stated Columbia Police Chief Skip Holbrook in an official release. “I appreciate their patience as our investigators work to solve this case.”
The Richland County Coroner’s Office informed WIS that the remains of 56-year-old Angela Fuller were found near Shakespeare Lane in Dentsville. Her death was officially attributed to a gunshot wound to the upper body.
Meanwhile, authorities reported that Fuller was last seen on August 31 before she went missing. A family member mentioned they had not heard from her in two days when she was reported missing. Later that day, police noted that Fuller’s vehicle was spotted in a parking area close to Beltline Boulevard and Covenant Road. Surveillance footage, reviewed extensively for over 500 hours, indicated that Reese, identified as her partner, was with her at that time and were seen traveling together in her car.
Citing the ongoing investigation, police stated that officers located Fuller’s vehicle and attempted to initiate a traffic stop on Broad River Road. The situation escalated when the suspect, Reese, led them on a high-speed chase that crossed into Lexington County, ultimately ending in a collision after crossing into another jurisdiction.
Following the incident, Reese was apprehended and a weapon was secured from the vehicle. This pursuit involved multiple agencies, including the Lexington County Sheriff’s Office, the Lexington Police Department, the Richland County Sheriff’s Department, and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
The Richland County Coroner’s Office later determined that the weapon used in the fatal shooting was the same one recovered from the suspect’s possession after his arrest.
Reese’s criminal history includes previous convictions for assault, second-degree burglary, criminal domestic violence, resisting arrest, and unlawful possession of a pistol. He is currently being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center, with a bond hearing set for Friday.
A celebration of life for Angela Fuller is planned for Sunday at Second Nazareth Baptist Church in Columbia.
