Fatal Southwest Fresno car crash death of Corday Brown
A ten-year-old boy whose life was tragically ended when struck by a vehicle in the southwest region of Fresno has been confirmed as Corday Brown. The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office and close family associates revealed the identity following the incident that occurred on a recent Sunday.
“His character was always upbeat, serving as a lively presence who kept gatherings joyful and light,” explained Raymond Mayberry, who works with the Fresno Miners Nonprofit Youth Football program. “Corday was a spirited child. He was full of energy, and I will certainly miss him.”
Despite facing significant hardships in his young years, including the loss of his mother during birth and his father’s ongoing struggle with cancer, Corday maintained a bright and positive demeanor. According to Mayberry, who first encountered the boy at age five through the football organization, these challenges did not diminish his inherent goodness.
The coach noted that Corday was a natural leader on the youth team, admired by younger players and often the focal point of attention. His time with the Fresno Miners involved regular participation in sports activities, shaping his social and personal development.
The accident, which claimed his life, took place on Golden State Boulevard, a street known for pedestrian crossings. Local authorities reported that the driver involved stopped at the scene and provided assistance, with no signs of impairment by alcohol. The California Highway Patrol is currently examining the circumstances surrounding the collision, offering no further developments as of Monday.
Corday resided in the vicinity and was reportedly crossing the road with siblings and companions when the incident unfolded. Mayberry is actively supporting the community by arranging memorial stickers for league members to honor Corday on their equipment.
A candle-light vigil in tribute to the deceased is scheduled to take place near the accident location on Monday evening at 6:00 PM, bringing together friends and family to share memories and find solace.
