Fatal New Chicago shooting death of Aaron Onohan and Benjamin Scott

The unfortunate event transpired at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Saturday in the 200 block of Huber Boulevard. According to reports from Indiana State Police, law enforcement personnel were initially dispatched to a residential property due to a report regarding a deceased individual. The caller, who was also identified as a co-owner of the home, exhibited significant distress and agitation during the initial interaction with the responding officers. Consequently, medical personnel were requested to evaluate the situation for potential psychological issues.

About one hour later, two officers from the New Chicago police department fired their weapons, leading to the fatal shooting of the co-owner inside the residence. It was confirmed on Tuesday that the man was killed by the officers, and no injuries were reported among the law enforcement team. The Lake County Coroner’s Office provided details on the deaths: Aaron Onohan, aged 46, succumbed to acute cardiac arrest, while Benjamin Scott, aged 64, died from injuries caused by gunfire. The office further determined that Scott’s death was a homicide.
