MICHELLE HEIDBRICK DIES IN FATAL WAWKEGAN HIT-RUN ACCIDENT, DRIVER REMAINS AT LARGE: POLICE

Fatal Waukegan, Illinois Hit-Run Death of Michelle Heidbrick

The Waukegan Police Department confirms that an Illinois driver is still being sought after fatally striking a pregnant woman while she was crossing the street.

According to authorities, this incident occurred on Sunday evening around 9:34 p.m. Initially reported as a “vehicle crash with injuries, involving a pedestrian,” emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly afterward.

Upon their arrival, police and fire officials found the pedestrian, later identified as 36-year-old Michelle Heidbrick, suffering from “critical injuries,” the authorities reported.

The driver of the vehicle involved fled the scene before police arrived.

Heidbrick was taken to a local hospital where medical personnel pronounced her dead in the emergency room.

Preliminary autopsy findings state that Heidbrick “died from blunt force trauma resulting from the incident.”

Heidbrick was two months into her pregnancy.

Her sister shared memories with ABC Chicago, describing her as “sweet” and “wouldn’t hurt a fly,” and mentioned she had a teenage son.

“She had called me just a week ago and was thrilled,” Nicole Heidbrick stated. “She said, ‘Nicole, I felt the baby kick for the first time.'”

The family is appealing to the public for information, hoping someone will come forward with details.

The Waukegan police department confirmed that this “remains under investigation” by their major crash unit.
