Fatal Bloomington car crash death of Jessica J. Wimp

The McLean County Coroner, Kathy Yoder, identified a female resident who passed away following a serious motor vehicle incident on Tuesday. According to official reports, this young woman, identified as Jessica J. Wimp, aged 24 and residing in Bloomington, succumbed to her injuries.

Emergency responders from the Bloomington Police Department were dispatched shortly before dawn, around 4:30 a.m., to a location on West Graham Street and North Lee Street. The initial report indicated a vehicle collision involving a residence. Fire department personnel arrived to assist with the rescue operation. Additionally, a specialized team from the McLean County Accident Reconstruction unit was dispatched to the scene.

Ms. Wimp was the only individual inside the vehicle involved in the accident. Medical professionals pronounced her dead at the scene. The initial findings of the ongoing investigation suggest the car was proceeding north on Lee Street before leaving the designated road surface. It subsequently collided with a tree, then struck a home, before stopping. The preliminary report states the cause of death was due to multiple blunt force trauma resulting from the vehicle impacting fixed objects.

Bloomington Police Chief Jamal Simington expressed condolences to the family. He remarked, “On behalf of the men and women of the Bloomington Police Department, we extend our sympathies to the grieving family and friends. Traffic collisions can have lasting effects on families for generations. Employing safe driving habits at all times is essential for saving lives. No other individuals sustained injuries during this specific traffic event. Law enforcement agencies continue to investigate the incident.
