Fatal Coffee County UTV accident death of Treyvion Edwards

A Coffee County teen has died following a severe accident involving an all-terrain vehicle, the Georgia State Patrol confirmed Friday. Eleven-year-old Treyvion Edwards succumbed to his injuries after the incident occurred on the weekend of September 20th.

This marks the third fatal all-terrain vehicle accident reported in the recent past, with two separate incidents happening just over the past couple of days. One involved a pedestrian fatality in Grady County, and the other resulted in the death of a five-year-old in Dougherty County.

Officials stated troopers arrived at the scene around 8:25 p.m. on Saturday, September 20th. The location was identified as an unmarked path within a wooded area of private property.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, Treyvion was a passenger in the vehicle while an 18-year-old male operated the machine. It is reported that the driver was operating the UTV in a reckless manner. Consequently, the vehicle rolled onto its side, throwing the driver out. The UTV then came to rest on top of the young boy.

Witness accounts indicate that prior to the accident, the child and the driver were sharing driving duties performing donut spins in the vehicle. Following the collision, onlookers reportedly lifted the vehicle back up. Medical personnel transported Treyvion to Coffee Regional Medical Center, but he was pronounced dead later that evening.

At this time, it is unknown if the child and the driver were related.
