Law enforcement officials have confirmed the arrest of a seventeen-year-old male in relation to a deadly shooting incident that took place on Aster Circle on Tuesday afternoon. The Richland County Sheriff’s Department announced charges against Paul Henry, who faces accusations including homicide, an attempt to murder, and firearm-related offenses.

According to investigators, the fatal shooting occurred approximately at 5:30 p.m., following the activation of a gunshot detection system that prompted sheriff’s deputies to respond to the area. Medical professionals reported that one individual sustained injuries from being shot and unfortunately did not survive despite hospital treatment. The Richland County Coroner’s Office has officially named the deceased as sixteen-year-old Joshua Edmonds from Columbia.

No other individuals present during the incident were reported to be injured. Henry was promptly identified and apprehended in the vicinity shortly after the shooting. Authorities indicated that they are treating the event as an isolated incident with the underlying motivation still being probed by investigators. The accused, Paul Henry, is currently being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Facility, pending a determination of bond.
