A thirteen-year-old individual identified as Nico Lombardi lost his life during an e-bike collision with a landscape truck on Wednesday, as stated by authorities. The incident took place at an intersection in Scotch Plains, and the boy was en route on his bicycle when the collision occurred, according to a post shared by the town’s mayor on social media. A fundraising page set up for the family confirmed the identity of the deceased as Nico Lombardi.

Expressing profound grief, Mayor Josh Losardo stated that the “heartfelt loss” of Nico Lombardi was deeply felt throughout the entire community. He emphasized the importance of community support and compassion during such times of tragedy.

Officials reported that the accident happened at the junction of Mountain and Mountainview Avenues. This location is situated approximately 25 miles west of Central Park. Following the collision, Nico Lombardi was transported to University Hospital in Newark. However, medical personnel were unable to save his life, resulting in his death at the hospital facility.

According to police reports, the driver of the landscaping truck involved in the incident stopped near the scene and has been described as cooperative with investigators. The driver’s identity has not been released to the public at this time. Both Union County and local Scotch Plains law enforcement agencies are currently examining the circumstances surrounding this fatal accident.
