Fatal Tracy car crash death of William J. Doyle and Roland M. Penamante

According to the California Highway Patrol, two individuals were discovered deceased several days following a vehicle collision that resulted in the car entering a canal adjacent to Interstate 5 near Tracy. Fortunately, one occupant of the vehicle survived.

The CHP received a report on the morning of September 19th around 8 a.m. concerning a woman attempting to halt traffic on I-5 close to Highway 132. Law enforcement arrived and conversed with her. She identified herself as the sole survivor, having been a passenger in the vehicle that had overturned and subsequently driven into the water. She further indicated that there were two other people inside the car at the time of the incident.

The authorities confirmed her account by examining the scene, noting tyre marks and scattered debris leading from the highway to the edge of the Delta Mendota canal.

The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office, specifically their dive unit, was dispatched. They later located the Chevrolet Silverado submerged in the canal, remarkably without any occupants still inside.

Two days after the initial incident, on a Sunday, the Sheriff’s Office officially identified William J. Doyle, aged 52, and Roland M. Penamante, aged 48, as the deceased individuals. The cause of the original collision remains under investigation by the authorities, who have not yet released the sequence of events leading to the fatal accident.
