West-central Scurry County authorities reported Monday night that a man and a woman from Lamesa lost their lives in a multiple vehicle accident along a highway. News coverage from Fox West Texas detailed the incident.

The collision, involving three trucks, happened shortly after 9 p.m. The scene was located just west of the city of Snyder, near the intersection of US-180 and County Road 264. This location places the crash approximately 80 miles southeast of Lubbock.

According to police, the crash occurred because the driver of an International semi-truck mistakenly crossed into the opposite lane of US-180. This error led to a head-on collision with another 18-wheeler and a pickup truck. The semi driver and their passenger were taken to nearby hospitals with serious injuries.

It was not immediately clear if the driver of the second 18-wheeler suffered any harm in the accident.

Tragically, both individuals inside the pickup truck did not survive. Officials confirmed that the victims were Orlando Tello and Silvia Lemon.

This significant pile-up likely caused considerable traffic delays on US-180 throughout the evening as emergency response teams worked to secure the area and manage the aftermath. Law enforcement has initiated a full investigation into the causes of this fatal accident.
