Addalena Maiette Dies in Fatal Ross Township-West View Car Crash
The fatal car crash death of Addalena Maiette
Allegheny County law enforcement responded to a multi-car collision reported shortly before 6 a.m. at the intersection of Highland and Cornell Avenues, located on the border between Ross Township and West View. Upon arrival, officers discovered one woman deceased and the driver of the other involved car uninjured. The victim’s identity was confirmed as Addalena Maiette, a 19-year-old.
Initial police inquiries indicated three automobiles were obstructed in the left lane of Highland Avenue. When the third car tried to overtake the two halted vehicles by moving into the opposing lane, the first car attempted a left turn, resulting in the crash. Authorities stated that the extent of the damage involved in the incident makes it difficult for police to determine which vehicle attempted to pass and which attempted to turn.
The resulting accident caused power failures, forcing Northgate Middle-High School to cancel classes and events for the remainder of the day.
