Fatal Owensboro, Ky. fire crash death of Charles Dosch

Owensboro, Kentucky authorities have confirmed the identity of the individual who perished in a severe vehicular mishap along the US 60 Bypass several weeks ago. The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday that 18-year-old Charles Dosch, hailing from Maceo, Kentucky, was identified through dental evidence as the driver of the vehicle.

According to reports, Dosch and his companion, Brian Deaton, a 43-year-old from Shelbyville, Kentucky, encountered a fatal outcome when their automobile crossed into the opposing lane and collided with a truck. Both occupants succumbed to their injuries upon impact, and subsequent to the crash, their vehicle ignited, complicating the identification process for investigators.

This incident marks the second fatality in this particular accident, as the identification of Deaton was previously reported. The wreckage and flames posed substantial challenges to the forensic team, delaying the confirmation of Dosch’s identity.

The driver of the involved truck, a 24-year-old man named Justin Phillips, endured critical injuries but was transported to a medical facility for treatment. Following initial care, he was airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital for further evaluation. Authorities did not immediately disclose the extent of the damage to US 60 or the duration of the traffic interruption.
