Matthew Zaborowski dies in fatal Erie car crash
Fatal Erie car crash death of Matthew Zaborowski, 41
Erie County authorities have confirmed that a man involved in a collision reported on September 12 has died, the result being injuries sustained in the incident. Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook formally identified the deceased on September 26 as Matthew Zaborowski, a 41-year-old resident of Erie.
The official time of Mr. Zaborowski’s death was recorded as 11:59 a.m. on September 25 at UPMC Hamot. He was a victim of the traffic collision which occurred at the intersection of West 11th Street and Sassafras Street. Mr. Cook attributed the cause of death to blunt-force trauma.
Mr. Zaborowski received treatment at a hospital since the time of the accident. The collision itself was reported just before 7:10 a.m. on the morning of September 12. A city police officer, driving a patrol SUV, was involved in the crash. This officer experienced only minor injuries. Additionally, a bystander at the scene, who was unhoused and remains unidentified by authorities, suffered a broken leg as a result of the accident.
