Norfolk law enforcement is examining an incident that resulted in the death of a 79-year-old woman. This tragic event took place on Thursday.

The collision was reported shortly after 11:00 a.m. near the 5900 block of E. Virginia Beach Boulevard. Police officers arrived at the scene and found a pedestrian. The pedestrian, later confirmed to be Josephine A. McClese, sustained critical injuries.

Emergency medical services transported Ms. McClese to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, her condition deteriorated, and she passed away there later that day.

The driver involved in the accident stayed at the location until authorities arrived.

Preliminary findings from the ongoing investigation suggest Ms. McClese was crossing E. Virginia Beach Boulevard, close to Glenrock Road, when she was struck by the vehicle. Officials stated that alcohol consumption did not appear to be a contributing factor to this accident.
