April Moore dies in fatal Carlsbad shooting.

Fatal Carlsbad shooting death of April Moore.

The Carlsbad law enforcement agency confirmed the identity of the individual killed outside her apartment complex during the incident last week.

On the 24th of September, the 50-year-old April Moore was shot and killed near her residential building in Carlsbad.

Those closest to her recall her as a person of great kindness, a source of laughter, and a dedicated fan of the 49ers throughout her life.

Her daughter, Melisa Williams, shared, “My mother was a huge 49er fan.”

Moore will not be able to attend this season’s games.

Williams recalled, “That was my final night with her. We spent it together, watched football, did her nails, my brother was there, and we were just hanging out. That was pretty much every night for her.”

That viewing session marked the last time Williams watched a football game with her mother.

Jamie Kinney, Moore’s best friend, stated, “We had no idea who was responsible. He was a total stranger who attacked her in her secure environment.”

On a Friday evening, the accused perpetrator, Andre Matijasevic, allegedly shot Moore multiple times in the parking area of the Carlsbad apartment complex, with her two children located upstairs at the time.

Williams described the experience: “We heard the shots; they were incredibly loud. It was right outside our door.”

Concerned, she sent several texts to her mother, informing her about the attack.

“I sent a couple of texts to my mom, telling her not to come home. It’s dangerous out there. We heard gunshots. Don’t come back,” she explained.

At that moment, Williams didn’t realize her mother was already inside.

Williams mentioned, “I just saw a pair of shoes sitting out there.”

Those shoes confirmed her mother’s presence.

“It’s awful that he could do that where her kids can hear, see, and feel it all, making you feel like you can’t safely leave your home,” Kinney commented.

Paramedics initiated CPR for Moore, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

“They moved her body to provide better CPR, but when they stopped, I knew my mom was gone,” Williams emotionally said.

The suspect is believed to have stolen Moore’s car and driven it to Orange County, where Newport Beach police managed to trace the vehicle.

“My mom didn’t value that car at all. Take the car. You don’t need to end her life,” Williams expressed.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office announced that officers eventually shot and killed Matijasevic after he targeted them with gunfire.

“It was his decision,” Kinney remarked. “She never asked for this.”

Moore and Williams had plans to attend the 49ers’ game against the Falcons on October 19th.

It was intended to be their first trip to a home game together.

“We have to go and honor her memory,” Williams declared.

Her passion for the 49ers continues with her.

“I will try my best to have fun because I know she will be there, watching over me, cheering for them,” Williams committed.

Moore’s family initiated a GoFundMe campaign, which has already raised over $30,000 to assist her children.
