Fatal Indianapolis shooting death of Lanya Amika Anderson

Early on Friday morning, a fatal shooting took place on the far east side of Indianapolis. Law enforcement received a call reporting a shooting incident at approximately 3:18 a.m. at the address 10156 John Jay Drive. Responding officers discovered an adult female with injuries that were clearly linked to a gunshot. She was immediately transported to Eskenazi Hospital and arrived in a critical condition.

At around 4:00 a.m., medical personnel confirmed that the young woman had passed away. The Marion County Coroner’s Office officially identified her as Lanya Amika Anderson, who was nineteen years old. Authorities are currently examining the circumstances and suspect this may be connected to domestic matters, though this has not been officially verified.
