Johanna Nieves-Velazquez dies in fatal Lauderdale County car crash

Fatal Lauderdale County car crash death of Johanna Nieves-Velazquez

Her body was discovered on Saturday, September 13th, on the eastbound lanes of Interstate 20 near the interchange with I-59 and I-20, close to the Meridian Regional Airport.

Lauderdale County’s Coroner, Stella McMahan, identified the deceased as Johanna Nieves-Velazquez, a 52-year-old. McMahan suggested that the manner of death was likely being hit by another motor vehicle.

The Coroner reported receiving notification about the incident at approximately 5:50 a.m. that morning.

According to the Meridian Police Department’s Assistant Chief, Dareall Thompson, formal police inquiry into this case is ongoing.
