Law enforcement officials have divulged further information regarding a tragic incident that occurred in Independence over the weekend, resulting in two fatalities. The fatal shooting took place along Regal Ridge Drive, a road situated near Taylor Mill Road, during the late hours of Sunday evening.

When authorities were notified around 11:21 p.m. about a disturbance at Taylor Ridge Apartments, responding officers encountered an individual suffering from a serious injury that appeared to be caused by gunfire. This man was taken to a hospital in a critical condition. Tragically, the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office confirmed that Daylon Bradford, who was 33 years old, passed away the following day due to his injuries.

According to reports received at the crime scene, a suspect and a female companion had fled the area and sought refuge in the nearby wooded regions. To manage the situation, police quickly cordoned off the area. Canine units and aerial drones were subsequently utilized to search the wooded land.

Around the stroke of midnight on Monday, authorities heard gunfire in the vicinity of the initial shooting. In response to this development, a specialized tactical team was dispatched to the location.

Through the use of drones, officers eventually detected heat signatures in the woods. At approximately 3 a.m., the lifeless bodies of a male and a female were discovered in the wooded area. The man, identified as the suspected perpetrator, is believed to have ended his own life with a gunshot wound. He was Donald Bryant, aged 34. The woman, identified as Heaven Glisson, was 24 years old.

In a statement released later, police revealed additional details. It was reported that Glisson contacted law enforcement on a previous occasion, stating that her former partner, Bryant, had appeared at her residence and refused to depart. She further alleged that he had possessed a knife and threatened to harm himself. Upon their arrival, Bryant denied carrying a knife but did admit to making statements about self-harm.

Despite Bryant’s refusal to leave and the threats made, police indicated that they could not arrest him for criminal trespassing at that time. This is because the specific legal criteria were not satisfied under state regulations. Consequently, officers advised Glisson to consider obtaining a protective order to ensure her safety.
