Fatal Charlotte shooting death of Brenton Tarell Samuels
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are examining two separate killings that took place very early on Saturday morning across different areas of the city. The first incident occurred in the University City region. Shortly after 2 a.m., authorities were alerted to an attack involving a deadly weapon at 8800 Hollow Creek Circle. When police arrived, they found one individual suffering from bullet injuries close by. Medical personnel at the location confirmed the person was deceased. This person was later confirmed to be Brenton Tarell Samuels, who was 31 years old. A second individual involved in that shooting was taken to a hospital and is reported to be in fair condition. Detectives from the Homicide Section and teams to examine crime scenes went to the location to document the evidence and gather information. The second shooting took place near a store on East Independence Boulevard around 4 a.m. Police working nearby, who were not in uniform, received reports of gunfire. In the 5000 block of the street, officers discovered three people wounded by bullets. Two of the injured went to a hospital themselves, while the third was taken there by ambulance and pronounced dead. This victim was identified as Shawn Taliesin Davis II, also 31 years old.
