Investigators reported that two people, one being a seventeen-year-old individual, lost their lives during a serious automobile collision occurring on a highway within Payne County shortly before dawn on Saturday.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is examining an incident where a witness relayed information to troopers about a vehicle traveling quickly southbound on U.S. 177, close to 32nd Street. This car was reportedly under the influence of darkness due to missing headlights. The witness indicated that this speeding car then struck a curb, causing the seventeen-year-old driver named Fernando Gonzalez to lose command of his vehicle. The resulting accident was a head-on impact with another car around 12:20 a.m. Saturday.

Both Fernando Gonzalez, who was seventeen, and Lorna R. Stein, who was seventy-eight years old, did not survive the collision involving their respective vehicles. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol have confirmed the identities of the two drivers.

No other cars or people were involved in the incident, according to the official collision report received.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol stated that the initial stages of their investigation have concluded, and further information might be available later.
