Upon their arrival, officers discovered the pedestrian, identified as a female, located in the right southbound lane of Grasso Boulevard. At that time, authorities indicated she was suffering from injuries.
Further reports from law enforcement stated that the woman later succumbed to her injuries and was not immediately identified. Police subsequently announced on Monday afternoon that the deceased was Wilicia Franklin, aged thirty-three, a resident of New Haven.
A police news release issued on the Saturday following the incident detailed the account of the driver involved. The driver informed investigators that he was traveling southbound on Ella T. Grasso Boulevard when a female pedestrian unexpectedly appeared in front of his vehicle.
