York authorities confirmed that a 63-year-old Hanover female, identified as Jolene Hoke, passed away in a hospital setting after being involved in an incident that resulted in her vehicle colliding with a designated historic structure. This occurred in Hanover, Pennsylvania.
Emergency medical services were dispatched to the scene following a vehicle collision that impacted the Neas House, located at 103 West Chestnut Street in Hanover. The 911 call logs indicated the event happened around 4:26 p.m. on Sunday, October 5, 2025.
Hoke, who was a passenger in the vehicle at the time, was reported to be wearing a seatbelt. According to the York County Coroner’s Office, she was not ejected from the vehicle during the incident. The official determination from the medical professionals at WellSpan York Hospital was that her passing was a direct result of the severe trauma she sustained in the collision. Her death was officially classified as accidental by the coroner’s office.
Law enforcement records indicate that the driver of the 2017 Toyota RAV4, a resident of Hanover, had control of the vehicle when it deviated from its intended path. The car reportedly veered off the road, causing damage to two other parked automobiles before striking the historic Neas House. The two other vehicles involved in the incident belonged to residents of Littlestown and Hellam respectively.
An assessment of the damage revealed that the Neas House, which is situated on the property line for Hanover’s Lot 2 municipal parking area, suffered visible damage to a portion of its fence, though the main structure itself remained intact. The grass adjacent to the house was also noted to be damaged.
The Neas House, a property owned by the Hanover Area Historical Society, is recognized as a significant historical landmark in the community. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1972 and has been part of the society’s collection since 1974. The structure was approximately 242 years old at the time of the incident.
The status of the driver involved in the accident has not been officially announced by the authorities. Multiple individuals sustained injuries in the collision, with varying degrees of severity reported. The investigation into the cause of the driver’s loss of control is ongoing.
