Police officers in Harvard, Illinois, responded to a vehicle with hazard lights activated on October 6. Inside, they discovered the two individuals deceased. According to the Harvard Police Department, both victims were found with fatal gunshot wounds.

Investigators have not definitively concluded the cause of death, but Harvard Police Chief Tyson Bauman indicated it could be a murder-suicide scenario. The Lake & McHenry County Scanner relayed this information. The official determination is still pending as the ongoing investigation continues.

The McHenry County Coroner’s Office confirmed the deceased as Rachel Dumovich, aged 29, and Brandon Dumovich, aged 30. Shaw Local reported their hometown as Sharon, Wisconsin. Their autopsies are reportedly planned for October 9.

Rachel and Brandon Dumovich married on October 12, 2024. Their wedding profile on TheKnot.com stated they were middle school sweethearts who began dating in 2022 after a 15-year friendship. Hours before her death, Rachel shared a photo of her and her husband on Facebook. She also posted a picture from their honeymoon in Greece, which took place in November.
